BEng (Hons), Loughborough University (John S Webber Memorial Prize winner).
Experience
Andrew spent a year at Cosworth Engineering in 1998-99, where he met Helix’s founding directors. He joined Helix as a graduate in 2000, designing, simulating and developing low carbon and high-performance internal combustion engine technologies for OEM clients. Between 2007 and 2010 he worked for Mercedes in Formula 1 powertrain, leading several advanced technology programmes. On his return to Helix, Andrew led the development of its first series production high-voltage traction motor programme and has since led several major e-Drive programmes. He was the architect behind the scalable integrated motor and inverter, and Helix’s scalable design for manufacture and assembly motor platforms.
Andrew holds patents in motor and rotor cooling technology.
Outside of work
Andrew is married with three daughters. He enjoys training for and competing in running events and the occasional triathlon. When not parenting his daughters, or working on renewable energy projects around the home, he can be found running along the roads and trails of the north Buckinghamshire countryside, and given a chance, in mountains further afield.
