Andrew Cross
Chief Technical Officer
Role
A member of the executive team, Andrew oversees R&D and holds patents in motor cooling technology. Via the Helix core technology model, Andrew ensures the adoption of best available practices from specification, through design to delivery.
Education
BEng (Hons), Loughborough University (John S Webber Memorial Prize winner).
Experience
Andrew spent his ‘sandwich’ year at Cosworth Engineering in 1998-99, where he met Integral Powertrain Limited’s founding directors. He joined IP as a graduate in 2000, designing, simulating and developing low carbon and high-performance internal combustion engine technologies for OEM clients. From 2007 he spent three years ‘away’, working in F1 powertrain for Mercedes. On his return, Andrew led the development of IP’s first series production high-voltage traction motor programme. He has since led major e-Drive programmes and was recently the architect behind the scalable integrated motor and inverter, and our latest scalable design for manufacture and assembly motor platforms.
Outside of work
Andrew is married with three young daughters. He enjoys training for and competing in running events and the occasional triathlon. When not parenting his daughters, or working on renewable energy projects around the home, he can often be found running in the local countryside.
